Why Bad Tires are an Accident Waiting to Happen

Bad Tires are an Accident Waiting to Happen - Mount Dora, FL

Failing to take care of your car’s tires is asking for trouble. Bad tires are an accident waiting to happen. If left unchecked and uncared for, bad tires could cause you to lose control of the vehicle, get into an accident, or cause further damage to your vehicle.

Inadequate traction

Tires are responsible for providing adequate traction to keep your vehicle on the road. Bad tires don’t have enough tread to get a good grip on the road. In fact, driving with bad tires during heavy rains or cold winters can result in sliding and spinning out. If you lose control of your vehicle, you are responsible for any damage done.

Potential blowouts

The largest threat that bad tires present is the potential of a blowout. A lack of tread helps reduce the change of a blowout. No matter your vehicle’s speed, a blowout is extremely dangerous and can cause a major accident.

Loss of pressure

Bad tires are more likely to lose air pressure than new tires. A lack of tread and underinflated tires make coming to a sudden stop more difficult. The remaining tread will wear quicker with a loss of air pressure, too. If you have bad tires, new tires at Danny Len Buick GMC are a great way to ensure your safety on the road. Tips for detailing your car in Mount Dora, FL

Detailing Your Car - Mt. Dora, FL

Detailing your car can be one of the most rewarding DIY experiences yet, whether your priority is maintaining its resale value of doing some late spring cleaning. Here are some fast, easy tips to keep your car, truck or SUV clean and stylish for your next adventure.

Crumbs, crevices, and coffee

When it comes to the filth of a dirty vehicle, cup holders are one of the most extreme. From spilled coffee to sticky messes left by a passenger, an easy remedy is an old sock and a travel mug and a spray of window cleaner. Simply dress your travel mug in an old sock and apply a few sprays of window cleaner, twist, and you’re good as new. For extra stubborn messes, use a skewer or something sharp to get all the nooks and crannies, and consider investing in a rubber coaster to keep your car in like-new condition.

Fabulous fabrics can stay flawless

The most careful driver has spilled or left a mark on their vehicle’s interior. From leather to pleather, there are many ways to keep your vehicle’s fabrics shiny, smooth, and presentable for your next passenger. Deep clean your car’s fabric with a light spray of foaming aerosol carpet cleaner or something specific if your vehicle specifies. Once the spray has time to absorb and dry, vacuum your car.

5 Tips For Saving For a Car

saving for a car

If you need advice on saving for a car, here are a few tips.

Decide your down payment and monthly payments. A variety of different vehicles abound on the market, so there are lots of options for drivers with any budget. When thinking about the type of car you want to buy, keep in mind that down payments are often 20 percent of the total cost or more. Calculate how much of your income you can afford to set aside for monthly loan payments.

Set up a separate savings account. Many banks offer different kinds of savings accounts. Some of these are even high-interest savings accounts that allow people to grow their money for long-term goals. This helps separate your car savings from your other savings. It also helps to set up automated transfers into your savings so you do not use the money elsewhere.

Cut down on your wants. If you want to afford a particular vehicle, cut back on little things for awhile. Any unnecessary spending will take money away from your dream, so focus only on the necessities.

Trade in your old car. Getting the trade-in value of your current ride can help you plan for your new car budget more effectively. When you trade in an old vehicle, you can put the value of that car towards the cost of your brand-new one.

When you are ready, stop in at Danny Len Buick GMC for a test drive.

Driving with Good Posture Improves Safety and Health

driving with good posture - Mt. Dora, FL

Drivers adopt many bad habits behind the wheel — like texting while driving, not wearing seatbelts, and eating on the road. However, many drivers do not realize that bad posture also has serious health and safety issues. Driving with good posture ensures that safety systems work properly in the event of an accident. It often keeps you more alert and benefits your health.

According to GEICO, you should sit with your tailbone at the back of the seat. The full length of the seat should support your thighs, and your eyes should be about three inches above the steering wheel. Sit far enough away from the steering wheel so that your arms are comfortable, not bent at 90-degree angles.

Driving with good posture is particularly important for safety. Seat belts should wrap around your waist and chest, but they do serious damage or fail you if you are not sitting upright. Airbags work best when you sit up straight.

Additionally, good posture has added health benefits. It keeps you more alert on the road because you have better circulation. This improved flow prevents you from getting sore on long road trips, and it is ideal for those who might be at a higher risk for a stroke or heart attack.

As you focus on your sitting position in the car, allow us to look after your car’s posture. Schedule an alignment check at Danny Len Buick GMC.

Making New Year’s Resolutions for Driving Green

New Year’s Resolutions for Driving Green

You may be setting goals to live green in 2019. When you commit to a new habit like reducing your impact on the environment, the task can seem daunting. Experts recommend smaller resolutions for easier management that will lead to a follow-through. Implement these minor habits in your daily driving routine to achieve your New Year’s resolutions for driving green while keeping the green in your wallet.

Slow your acceleration. Get more by doing less. Hard acceleration at a stop increases fuel consumption by 35 percent. Easing into your acceleration can reduce emissions and save yourself money at the pump.

Check your tire pressure. A tire pressure check is quick, but effective. The start of a new year can bring cooler temperatures, which can rapidly alter tire pressure. Underinflated tires negatively impact traction in slippery conditions and lower fuel efficiency.

Minimize idling. Idling ten minutes per day releases carbon dioxide into the air. This can easily happen if you wind up in an immovable traffic jam on the freeway or if you pick up a tardy friend on the way to work. When you find yourself in these situations, turn off your car.

Resolutions for 2019 demand accountability. Visit Danny Len Buick GMC in Mt. Dora, FL, and share your goals with our service team.
