The GMC Canyon is an exciting midsize pickup truck with strong capabilities. For the 2021 model year, it is getting even more adventurous with the addition of a new Off-Road Performance Edition. This special model adds onto the already capable AT4.
The 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition will come with improved underbody protection. This includes front and mid skid plates to protect the oil pan, front differential, steering gear, and lower radiator. Durability is further enhanced with an off-road rocker panel and spray-on bedliner.
This special off-road truck will also be better at overcoming obstacles with a 1-inch suspension leveling kit. GMC also removed the front air dam to increase the approach angle to about 30 degrees.
All Canyon AT4 models come standard with an off-road suspension package, an Advanced Hill Descent Control System, four-wheel drive, and 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac® tires. The transfer case also comes with a shield to protect it from debris.
Power comes from a 3.6-liter V6 engine that delivers 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. When properly equipped, the Canyon AT4 model can tow up to 6,200 pounds and carry up to 1,531 pounds of payload.
